Weather Data Help
Time Range
Data is collected every 10 minutes, beginning on the hour.
Data is returned from the first record after the beginning. Time Interval describes how often during the requested time period you would like the data to be displayed.
Remember that a day officially begins at 12:00 AM (midnight).
Therefore, requesting an interval smaller than 10 minutes is not possible.
Data Types
The weather stations collect data on precipitation, pressure, air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and wind direction. Once checked, the data types will display a list of statistics available for that data to choose from. Selecting Real Time gives the actual value recorded by the weather station at a specific time. For example, if you wanted the weather station's hourly air temperature readings from January 4 th , 2003 to February 5th, 2003 :
- input 01/04/2003 and 12:00 AM under Time Range Beginning
- input 02/05/2003 and 12:00 AM under Time Range Ending
- select Hourly under Time Interval
- check the Air Temperature box and the Real Time box underneath it
Wind Direction is measured in the direction that the wind is coming from, in azimuth. Azimuth is a unit of measurement given in degrees, with zero degrees corresponding to North, and increasing clockwise. Thus, 90 degrees is East, 180 degrees is South, and 270 degrees is Wes
Units
Users can choose whether they would like the data to be displayed in English or metric units.
English units give:
Precipitation in inches (in)
Air Temperature in degrees Fahrenheit (°F)
Wind Speed in miles per hour (mph)
Pressure in inches of mercury (inches Hg)
Relative Humidity in percent (%)
Wind Direction in azimuth (azm)
Metric units give:
Precipitation in millimeters (mm)
Air Temperature in degrees Celsius (°C)
Wind Speed in meters per second (m/s)
Pressure in millibars (mb)
Relative Humidity in percent (%)
Wind Direction in azimuth (azm)
